Sanitary Napkin Dispenser inaugurated at Vijayawada Railway Station by SCRWWO

Women should break the stigma & shame surrounding Menstrual health and should come forward to openly discuss on menstruation

To facilitate the needy lady passengers and Working Women force of Vijayawada Station, a Coin Operated Sanitary Napkin Dispenser & Napkin Incinerator was installed at Swarna Jayanthi Waiting Hall, Platform No. 1, Vijayawada Statin by South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SCRWWO), Vijayawada. Dr. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada & SCRWWO team inaugurated the Napkin dispenser today i.e., 05th July, 2023. The Napkin dispenser & incinerator were procured with the funds of SCRWWO, Vijayawada

Addressing a gathering of Women Employees at VIP Lounge Room, Station Director Office, Vijayawada Station, Dr. Jaya Mohan said that this the most sought after and essential amenity at any work place. Dr. Jaya Mohan said that maintaining proper menstrual hygiene is very important in turn for the women to stay active and fit in daily activities. Dr. Jaya Mohan exhorted the women to break the stigma & shame surrounding Menstrual Health and should come forward to discuss in open forums.  She appealed to the staff to spread the word and make lady passengers aware of this essential amenity available at Vijayawada Station. She also instructed the field staff to ensure proper refill and working condition of Sanitary Napkin Dispenser periodically.

Dr. K. Sarada, Gynaecologist, ACMS & Vice President, SCRWWO gave valuable tips on maintaining good Menstrual health and briefed about various sanitary napkin products currently available in the market. Dr. K. Sarada said that ideal time to dispose any pad is between 6-8 hours and appealed the staff to refrain from prolonged use. She also suggested the use of menstrual cups and eco-friendly ways to dispose used napkins.  Shri P.B.N. Prasad, Station Director thanked the SCRWWO team for its philanthropic initiative to support Lady passengers. He said that sanitary napkins are now available at a nominal price of five rupees. 

At Swarna Jayanthi Waiting Hall, a live demonstration was given to women passenger regarding the usage of Sanitary Dispenser & Incinerator on the occasion. Women Passengers were urged to utilize this essential amenity judiciously. SCRWWO team also voluntarily distributed handmade eco-friendly sanitary napkins to the women employees & outsourcing staff of Vijayawada Station.  

Smt. D. Sridevi, SCRWWO, Vice President, Shri P.B.N. Prasad, Station Director, Vijayawada Ms. Nusrat M Mandrupkar, PRO, Executive Members of SCRWWO, Inspectors, Staff of all Departments took part in the event.
