‘First Ever Automobile Traffic’ of Vijayawada Division carrying Hyundai Cars consignment dispatched from Manubolu

The Division captures a new stream of traffic through its efficient BDU set up




In yet another first ever, Vijayawada Division successfully dispatched NMG (New Modified Goods) rake containing 125 Hyundai Cars in the early hours of today i.e., 14th August, 2023. The car consignment was booked by M/s Transport Corporation of India, from Manubolu to ICOD, New Delhi of Northern Railway, and was successfully dispatched after completion of loading procedure. This is the first-ever rake of Automobile Traffic from Vijayawada Division and also first outward rake to be ever dispatched from Manubolu station

New Modified Goods trains are specially designed for carrying Automobile traffic like Cars, Auto and other heavy Automobile consignments. Vijayawada Division garnered Rs.19,14,795 by dispatching its first ever automobile traffic rake. The Division undertook all due safety measures for hassle free loading of car consignment at Manubolu station. The anticipated traffic projections are more than 15-20 outwards rakes per month fetching revenue of Rs. 3 to 4 Crore per month. 

The Business Development Unit (BDU) of Vijayawada Division has been making continuous efforts in expanding the railway freight basket of the Division. The team has been holding regular meetings to make the freight customers aware of the benefits of transporting by Railways. The customers are also being briefed about the regular Policy initiatives being taken at the Board level for their benefit. The hard work of BDU teams at field level has not only resulted in generating additional revenue and achieving new stream of traffic to the Division.

Shri Rambabu Vavilapalli, IRTS, Sr. DCM congratulated Shri V Vamsi Krishna, Chief Commercial Inspector, Nellore and Commercial Staff for initiating this new stream of traffic for Vijayawada Division with their earnest efforts. Sr. DCM said that this is a remarkable feat adding another new stream to the freight basket of Vijayawada Division. 

Shri Narendra A Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division complimented the efforts of Commercial Department for capturing the automobile traffic. DRM stated that such initiatives will not only boost the revenue of the Division and but also maximizes the potential. He advised the Business Development Unit teams to particularly make the freight customers aware of how loading by Railways is not only economically beneficial to them, but also beneficial in terms of safety, speed and is environment-friendly.
