Rail Coach Restaurant at Vijayawada Station made open for public

This is the ‘Second Rail Coach Restaurant’ of Vijayawada Division

Shri Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR and Shri Shiv Kishan ji Agarwal, Chairman , Haldirams declared the Rail Coach Restaurant set up at Vijayawada Railway Station  open for public  from 19th September, 2023. As part of providing enhanced passenger services and novel experience to the rail users, South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division has conceptualized an innovative idea by starting a Coach Restaurant in the East Entrance Circulating area of Vijayawada Railway Station.

 Under the Non fare Revenue initiative, Indian Railways is refurbishing its old railway coaches, by turning them into beautiful concept restaurants making them an attraction for travellers. In similar endeavor, Vijayawada Division authorities have modified one sleeper coach on rails setup at circulating area of the station with full AC provision and modified interiors to suit the dining requirements. This is the second of its kind over the Vijayawada Division jurisdiction.  Recently in August, 2023, first Rail Cocah restaurant was opened at Rajahmundry railway Station premises. 

Rail commuters and General Public will now have a unique and pleasant dining experience at this restaurant. These services shall be offered round the clock for the convenience of travelling public. 

Speaking on the occasion,  Shri Vavilapalli. Rambabu, Sr. DCM, Vijayawada said that this innovative idea under the Non Fare Revenue head was conceptualized by Vijayawada Division to provide premium experience to Rail commuters by utilizing old aged unserviceable coach and this coach is redesigned to the needs of Coach Restaurant by granting license to the entrepreneurs. This restaurant not only provides hygienic and quality food to Rail commuters 24 X 7 but also generates revenue on large scale to the Division.  Sr. DCM also thanked the Mechanical, Engineering and other Departments who were instrumental in setting up the Rail coach restaurant

Shri Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division has complimented Vijayawada Division officials for providing a good passenger amenity at Vijayawada Railway station by utilizing one sleeper Coach. DRM said that Passengers will now get premium dining experience in this multi cuisine with hygiene and quality food available round the clock. He congratulated the officials for setting up good ambience and swanky interiors in the rail coach. He also said that this coach restaurant with multi cuisine will serve the food at local tariffs to the rail users which also leave them with a good memorable experience.
