Three Employees of Vijayawada Division receive GM SCR’s “Man of the Month” Safety Awards
Shri Narendra A Patil Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway presented General Manager’s “Man of the Month” Safety Awards to 3 employees of Vijayawada Division for showing alertness in the duty and taking timely action to prevent unsafe conditions. He presented the awards during the virtual safety meeting held on 13th October 2023. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway along with Principal Heads of Departments from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Nanded Divisions from their respective offices participated in the meeting through video conference.
The General Manger reviewed the safety preparedness of the Zone. He instructed the officials to have more interaction with field staff and to counsel the staff on key safety elements and improve their focus on safety. He advised all the Divisional Railway Managers to accord top priority for the safety of the train services. Shri Narendra A Patil while giving the awards congratulated the staff and asked them to focus on safety aspects and also to share their experiences with other staff to ensure there are no abnormalities on train passing duties.
Three Employees of Vijayawada Division bagged the “Man of the Month” Safety Awards for the month of September 2023
1. Shri M Gnaneswara Rao, Trackman-IV (Gateman) of Engineering Department received Safety Award for keen observation and alertness while performing Gateman duty of LC No.65 between Moturu and Mandavalli Stations. He detected HOT AXLE from running goods train (long haul) passing on UP line at 09:13 hours on 16.09.2023. He immediately informed to on duty SS/Moturu Station and all concerned thus averting a major unusual.
2. Shri Rajendra Bhagat, Station Master, Bayyavaram Station of Operating Department on 10.09.2023 observed that a goods train left Anakapalle at 04.19 hours passed through Bayyavaram at 04.30 hours, SM & PM exchanged all-right signals at station side as Bayyavaram Trails Units on UP loop under unloading. Both observed unusual sound from the wagon approximately 15th from TE. SM immediately informed to SM Narasingapalli to stop and examine. The Train Examiner (TXR) Staff examined and advised to detach the wagon on the same day. Fit to run was given on 13.09.2023. Shri Rajendra Bhagat received Safety Award for keen observation and alertness.
3. Sri Y. Koti Reddy, Technician-I/C&W/PF/BZA of Mechanical Department while performing Platform duties in 06:30 to 12:30 hours shift on 15.09.23, noticed Rail Breakage on Platform No.8 of Vijayawada Division and informed to Station Master, Vijayawada Station. On another occasion, while conducting Rolling-In Examination of Train No.12615 Chennai – New Delhi Express, he noticed “Secondary Suspension outer coil spring Bottom Coils in Compressed Condition and no Vertical Bump stop clearances of Coach No SR LWLLRM 186854. On information excess load in the said coach was unloaded at Platform and the train dispatched, thus avoiding any possible unusual incidents.
