Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway invites Public to participate in “Coffee Table Book on Bridges”
On the proud occasion of the 172nd Birthday of Indian Railways, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway, extends heartfelt greetings to its esteemed passengers, freight customers, and stakeholders. To mark this historic milestone, the Division is thrilled to announce a unique and heritage-centric initiative — the creation of a Coffee Table Book – 2025 focused on the iconic bridges of Vijayawada Division, with an open invitation for public participation.
This initiative
aims to celebrate the architectural, historical, and cultural significance of
over 225 bridges spread across the Vijayawada Division,
including monumental structures like the Havelock Bridge, Godavari
Bridge, Krishna River Bridge, and Penna
Bridge. These bridges are not only feats of engineering but also
silent witnesses to the evolution of the Indian Railways and the communities
they serve.
A Call to Connect – Inviting Contributions
In a novel move to create a collaborative and community-driven publication, Vijayawada Division invites passengers, students, railway enthusiasts, historians, and media professionals to contribute towards this commemorative Coffee Table Book. Contributors are encouraged to share:
- High-resolution photographs of bridges across the Vijayawada Division
- Historical anecdotes, rare facts, and narratives associated with the bridges
- Personal stories from the elderly who have witnessed the history unfold
- Poems, drawings, stories from school students, highlighting their experiences or imaginative journeys across these engineering marvels
Select genuine, exceptional, and
insightful contributions will be featured and credited
in the final publication, offering contributors a chance to be a part of
Railway history.
