Free Fibro Scan Camp Held at Divisional Railway Hospital On World Liver Day
In observance of World Liver Day, a Free Fibro Scan (Liver) Screening Camp was successfully conducted today ie. 19th April 2025 at the Radiology Block, Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada. The initiative was organised in collaboration with Zydus Life Sciences, with the theme for this year— “Food is Medicine”—highlighting the vital link between diet and liver health.
The camp primarily aimed to screen Railway employees and their dependents, especially those at higher risk due to conditions such as obesity, chronic alcoholism, high cholesterol, diabetes, and HBV/HCV infections. A total of 59 beneficiaries availed the opportunity to undergo FibroScan, a non-invasive diagnostic test to assess liver stiffness and detect early signs of fatty liver and fibrosis.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ch. Srinivasu, Chief Medical Superintendent, Vijayawada Division, who emphasized the importance of early screening and lifestyle modifications in preventing liver diseases.
Participants found to have abnormal scan results will undergo further evaluation by a physician and will be referred to a Consultant Gastroenterologist for appropriate treatment and management.
Dr. M. Jaideep, Assistant Chief Medical Superintendent (Health & Family Welfare), extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all stakeholders, including Zydus Life Sciences, hospital staff, and the participants, for making the camp a resounding success.
This proactive step underscores the Indian Railways' commitment to promoting its employees’ and their families’ health and well-being.
