The Town Official Language Implementation Committee held at Divisional Railway Auditorium, Vijayawada




The Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Vijayawada meeting was successfully held today, i.e., 7th May, 2025, at the Divisional Railway Auditorium, Vijayawada under the chairmanship of Shri Narendra A. Patil, Chairman, TOLIC and Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway. 

Shri Anirban Kumar Vishwas, Deputy Director (Rajbhasha), Ministry of Home Affairs (Dept. of Official Language), Regional Implementation Office South, Bangalore joined the meeting virtually. Shri Srinivasa Rao Konda, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Operations, Vijayawada Division & Apar Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari, and Dr. Shyam Sundar Sahu, Deputy General Manager (OL), South Central Railway, were the Guests of Honour. The meeting witnessed participation from prominent officials representing various Central Government organizations in and around NTR District.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, followed by a warm welcome address by Shri M.K. Nagaraju, Member Secretary, TOLIC and Rajbhasha Adhikari, Vijayawada Division, SCR. He extended greetings to the esteemed guests, heads of member organizations, competition winners, and judges. 

Addressing the gathering, Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM highlighted the pivotal role of Hindi in official communication and commended the Rajbhasha Department of Vijayawada Division for its dedicated efforts. He stressed that the increasing accessibility of Hindi facilitates its implementation in day-to-day operations, and programs like TOLIC meetings and competitions further encourage its usage. He also applauded the contributions of various Central Government organizations towards fostering Hindi in their official functions. Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM commended the Rajbhasha Department of Vijayawada Division, SCR for bagging the prestigious ‘Adrash Mandal – Acharya Raghuveer Chal Vaijayanti’ Award at National Level.

Shri K Srinivasa Rao, ADRM (Operations), Vijayawada Division, expressed pride in hosting the event and acknowledged the enthusiastic participation of TOLIC members. He urged organizations to actively engage in Hindi-related initiatives such as technical seminars, commemorative events, and Hindi Pakhwada, adhering to the scheduled calendar of activities. Shri M K Nagaraju further presented the TOLIC progress report through a detailed presentation, outlining various activities undertaken by the committee and member organisations. He encouraged offices to continue their dedicated implementation of Rajbhasha to enhance its usage at the official level.

On this occasion, total of 42 member offices under TOLIC, Vijayawada, were honoured with the prestigious Rajbhasha Shield in recognition of their commendable efforts in Hindi implementation during 2024. Among these, 20 offices received the Sarvashrestha Puraskar Award, while 22 offices were conferred with the Uttam Puraskar Award. Notably, the Regional Passport Office, Vijayawada, secured first prize for the best in-house magazine, while the Principal Accountant General (A&E), AP and Principal Accountant General (Audit), A.P., jointly bagged the second prize in this category. 

The ceremony also celebrated excellence in Hindi-based competitions, with 125 employees and officers from 42 Central Government organisations competing in various events, including Hindi News Reading, Noting & Drafting, Essay Writing, Poetry Recitation, Elocution, Quiz, and Antakshari. A total of 51 winners were awarded certificates by Shri Narendra A. Patil, Chairman, TOLIC and DRM, Vijayawada Division, SCR in recognition of their outstanding performances in competitions held from 4th to 18th February 2025.

The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing the significance of Hindi in official communication and applauding the collective efforts of all participating organisations in furthering its implementation. Shri S. Srinivas, Chief Workshop Manager, Guntupalli Wagon Workshop; Shri M. Lakshmikant Reddy, Director, Airports Authority of India; Dr. B. Venkateshwarlu, Assistant Director In-charge, RARI; Shri Vijay Kumar Yadav, GM, FCI; Shri Siva Harsha, Regional Passport Officer and In-charge of various Central Government Organisations in Vijayawada jurisdiction, attended the event.
