Commendable Act of Honesty by Vijayawada Division, SCR’s Ticket Checking Staff

In yet another shining example of integrity and dedication, a Travelling Ticket Inspector (TTI) of Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway displayed exceptional honesty while on duty. Shri B. Avinash, TTI/Amenities/Kakinada Town, was performing his regular duties onboard Train No. 12738 Goutami Express (Rayanapadu to Kakinada Town) when he noticed an unclaimed bag placed on Berth No. 35 of coach A3.

Without any delay, Shri Avinash alerted the escorting RPF Head Constable, and in the presence of passengers and with mobile phone recording for transparency, opened the bag. To everyone’s surprise, the bag contained gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹2,00,000, cash amounting to ₹37,000, an Aadhaar card, and additional address proof documents.

Exercising diligence, the contact number on the Aadhaar card was dialed, and the passenger on the other end confirmed ownership of the belongings. Shri Avinash, upholding the highest standards of public service, ensured the safe return of the bag to the rightful owner in the presence of Railway Protection Force staff. The grateful passenger thanked the Ministry of Railways and conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the honesty and integrity of the Railway employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rambabu Vavilapalli, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR said, “This act of honesty reflects the core values of Indian Railways. Shri B. Avinash has set a benchmark for service with integrity. We take immense pride in his actions.”
