Summer Camp 2025 for Children Concludes with a Grand Celebration at Railway Stadium, Vijayawada





South Central Railway Sports Association (SCRSA), Vijayawada Division concluded its much-awaited Summer Camp 2025 for children under 16 with a vibrant closing ceremony held at the Railway Stadium on 14th June 2025. The camp, conducted over 28 days from May 10 to June 14, 2025, witnessed enthusiastic participation and overwhelming support from parents, children, and dignitaries alike.

The Chief Guest, Shri Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR & President, SCRSA, graced the event along with Guest of Honour Shri P.E. Edwin, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure), and Special Guest Shri Prem Kumar Lakavath, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer. The event was coordinated and hosted by Shri M. Dinesh Kumar, Secretary SCRSA/BZA & Divisional Sports Officer cum Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Vijayawada Division.

Adding a rich cultural flavour to the ceremony, a Kuchipudi dance performance including the traditional Tarangam (a balancing act on a brass plate) was performed by Devi Sri and Kavya Sri, daughters of railway employee Shri K. S. Narayana, Traffic Inspector (Operating Department). The performance was met with a thunderous applause and appreciation from the dignitaries, parents, and young participants.

This year’s summer camp saw a remarkable increase in participation, with 116 children, including 71 from railway families and 45 non-railway participants, taking part across five major sporting disciplines: Cricket – 70 participants, Athletics – 17 participants, Football – 18 participants, Kabaddi – 7 participants and Volleyball – 4 participants.

In his address, Shri Narendra A Patil, DRM emphasized the importance of hard work and discipline in shaping the personality of children from a young age. He highlighted this ethos as the central motto of the summer camp, which aims at not just athletic training, but holistic development.

He also appreciated SCRSA’s meticulous arrangements including the daily provision of protein-rich diets and refreshments to all 116 participants throughout the 28-day schedule. Further, he recognised and awarded honorariums to the dedicated coaches who guided the children across various sports disciplines.

The closing ceremony stood as a testament to SCRSA’s commitment to youth development, community engagement, and nurturing future champions both on and off the field.
