Intense Ticket Checking Drive over Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway fetches Rs. 35.16 Lakhs
Highest Ticket Checking Earning for the current FY
South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division, conducted a Mega Ticket Checking Drive across its jurisdiction on 28th September 2025. The special check was held under the supervision of Shri B. Prasantha Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR with around 132 Ticket Checking Staff actively participating.
During this intensive drive, a record Rs. 35.16 lakhs was realised in a single day by registering 4,907 cases of irregular travel. This is the highest for the current financial year. The checks covered 196 trains across the Division, with teams formed in all sections. Squad TTEs, Station Staff, and Pro-Commercial Clerks/ Ticket Collectors joined hands in this large-scale operation.
The drive was executed in two slots of 12 hours each, covering both morning and afternoon periods. All entry and exit points of stations were manned with the support of RPF personnel to ensure proper regulation of passengers. Loose entry points were cordoned off, and passengers were guided to purchase journey or platform tickets from counters. Awareness was also created among passengers to use Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) for safe movement, avoid trespassing, and properly book heavy or bulky luggage through luggage offices or brake vans.
During this Intense Ticket Checking Drive, 2257 cases of ticketless travel, 2321 cases of irregular travel were registered, and penalty of Rs. 22.89 lakh and Rs.12.19 lakh respectively was realised by the Ticket Checking Staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri B. Prasantha Kumar, Sr. DCM, Vijayawada Division, said, “This large-scale ticket checking drive is part of our sustained efforts to curb ticketless and irregular travel, and to curb the carriage of unbooked luggage. Such checks not only plug revenue leakage but also instill discipline and accountability, thereby ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for genuine rail passengers.”
He also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the ticket checking teams, led by Shri B.V.N.S. Ravi Prasad, ACM, Vijayawada Division, for the successful execution of the Mega Drive.
