National Nutrition Week Awareness Programme at Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada

As part of the nationwide observance of National Nutrition Week (September 1–7, 2025), the Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada, organised an awareness program at the New OPD block today, i.e., 3rd September 2025. The event aimed to highlight the importance of balanced nutrition in maintaining good health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases. This year’s theme was “Eat Right for a Better Health”.

The program was graced by Dr. A.V.S.K. Prasad, Chief Medical Superintendent, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway, who stressed the significance of adopting healthy eating practices. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prasad said, “Good nutrition is the cornerstone of a healthy life. By making conscious food choices, we can prevent diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. I urge all railway beneficiaries to adopt balanced diets for themselves and their families.”

Dr. M. Jaideep, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (Health & Family Welfare), Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada, welcomed the gathering and emphasised the role of awareness in building healthier communities. He remarked, “National Nutrition Week is not just about food, it is about creating awareness, correcting misconceptions, and ensuring that every family makes health a priority. This theme reminds us that small, everyday choices can bring lasting benefits.”

Smt. Bhogadhi Srikala, Senior Dietitian & Nutritionist, addressed the audience on common nutrition-related myths and provided practical dietary guidelines, especially tailored for women and children. She noted, “Nutrition is often clouded by misinformation. By busting myths and following science-based diet plans, families can ensure holistic health. Women and children, in particular, need focused care and balanced diets to thrive.”

The event saw active participation from railway beneficiaries, especially women and children, who attended in large numbers. To extend the message further, various programmes like group meetings and rallies are being conducted throughout the week in schools, colonies, and workplaces, ensuring wider outreach and impact.

The initiative reinforced the commitment of South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division, towards promoting health and wellness among its employees and their families.
