Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway Intensifies Passenger Amenities Upgrade on Duvvada–Vijayawada Section

Mohit Sonakiya, DRM reviews Amrit Bharat Station Scheme works
and urges timely completion
Shri
Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Vijayawada Division, South
Central Railway, conducted an extensive inspection of the Duvvada–Vijayawada
Section today, i.e. 12th September 2025 accompanied by senior Branch Officers.
The inspection placed a strong emphasis on enhancing passenger amenities and
improving infrastructure under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
During
his visit to Thadi Station, Shri Mohit Sonakiya, DRM advised officials to
examine the feasibility of laying an additional loop line to enhance
operational flexibility and train handling capacity. At Anakapalle and Tuni
stations, he reviewed the progress of the ongoing Amrit Bharat Station works
and directed officials to focus on completing key passenger-centric
improvements. These include the upgrading of premium waiting halls for better
comfort, the installation of modular toilets to improve hygiene standards, and
the enhancement of station facades to create a modern and welcoming appearance.
He also emphasized the refurbishment of platform surfaces to improve safety,
the timely completion of foot over bridge works for smoother passenger
movement, and the expansion of parking areas to meet growing demand.
At
Nidadavolu Railway Station, the DRM inspected major infrastructure works aimed
at improving accessibility and convenience. These include the construction of a
12-metre foot over bridge, the installation of escalators on Platforms 2 and 3
along with lifts to assist senior citizens and differently-abled passengers,
and the development of a modern facade in the circulating area. He also
reviewed plans for premium toilets and modular waiting rooms on Platform 1 to
ensure enhanced comfort for travellers.
Speaking
on the occasion, Shri Mohit Sonakiya, DRM said, “Passenger convenience
remains our highest priority. We are committed to completing these works on
schedule so that every traveller experiences a safer, cleaner, and more
comfortable journey. By putting passengers first at every stage of development,
we are building stations that reflect the aspirations of the people we serve.”
The
inspection highlighted South Central Railway’s continuous efforts to modernise
its infrastructure and provide world-class facilities across the Vijayawada
Division. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, these upgrades are expected to
significantly enhance the travel experience for passengers throughout the
region.
