Major Train Mishap Averted by Railway Staff

On 12th   April, 2019 , Shri I. D. Solomon Raju, on duty ESM-1 (Electric Signal Maintainer), Duggirala while conducting regular gear maintenance inspection noticed rail breakage at Km 407/21-19 on Up-line (Vizag-Chennai) near Duggirala Railway station at 17.45 Hrs. Solomon Raju immediately alerted on duty Station Master, Duggirala, SSE/P-Way and his in-charge Branch officer. The information was immediately relayed to Engineering Control by the SSE/ PWay to take necessary action to avoid derailment.

Upon receiving the information engineering control informed the operating Control staff to immediately halt Train no. 13351 Dhanbad – Alleppey Express at Peddavadlapudi proceeding towards Chennai before reaching Duggirala railway station. Operating control informed SMR/ Peddavadlapudi to stop T.no 13351 at Peddavadlapudi.  Engineering staff rushed to the spot at 18.20 Hrs and restored the rail breakage at 19.45 hrs.

Shri T. Sandeep, On duty SMR/Duggirala, B. Vigna, SSE/P-Way and on duty staff appreciated the timely and swift action taken by Solomon Raju.

Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Divisional Railway Manager, in recognition for his dedication and alertness towards duty rewarded I. D. Solomon Raju with Rs. 4,000/- cash award. Shri M.V.S. Rama Raju, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Shri CH.P.R Vittal, Sr Divisional Signal & Telecommunication Engineer, Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager and other officers applauded the I. D. Solomon Raju for his timely action in averting a major mishap.
