Railway Week Celebrations - Vijayawada Division bags GM’s Efficiency Shield for Over All Best Performance

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR presented the GM’s Efficiency shield to Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division and Shri Anand Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division for Over All Best Performance to Vijayawada & Secunderabad Divisions jointly at the 64th Railway Week Celebrations held on 15th April, 2019 at Rail Kalarang, Bhoiguda, Secunderabad to commemorate the first train run on Indian soil.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya stated that SCR has recorded outstanding performance and reinforced its credentials as the best Zone on Indian Railways. The Zone registered a highest ever freight loading of 122.5 Million Tonnes during the 2018-19 financial year, which is up by 19% as compared to the previous year. Earnings from freight transportation have crossed the Rs. 10, 000 Crores for the first time, he added. In terms of Passenger traffic, the Zone has carried 383 Million of originating passengers which is an increase of 4 Million passengers when compared to the previous year. The Zone has recorded remarkable performance with originating earnings of Rs. 15,640 Crores which is a significant 15% increase over the previous financial year. 

Vijayawada Division bagged eleven out of 33 shields and bagged the most prestigious GM’s Efficiency for Over All Best Performance.

The General Manager also presented 171 individual awards and 23 group awards to the officers and staff in recognition of their meritorious contribution. 

Earlier, Shri John Thomas, Addl. General Manager, SCR in his welcome address stated that SCR is known for its image as o¬ne of the best performing Zones o¬n Indian Railways. It is running 744 trains and transporting around 05 lakh passengers per day. The Zone is first on Indian Railways to achieve 100% LED lighting at all the stations, service buildings and residential quarters. The Zone has also launched Kaizala app to extend Health care services to the employees. Ms. Chandrima Roy, Senior Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer, SCR was also present on the occasion.
