65th Zonal Level - Railway Week Celebrations, 2020 Vijayawada Division bags 6 Efficiency Shields for the Year 2019-2020

South Central Railway celebrated 65th Railway Week, Zonal Level across six divisions on 30th December, 2020. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Owing to the current pandemic situation the Railway week Celebrations were held virtually through live link across all the Divisions. All the meritorious employees of the Zone were awarded at their respective locations by PHODs and DRMs.  Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada presented GM awards to all the employees of  Vijayawada Division on behalf of Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri Gajanan Mallya, GM, SCR at Divisional Conference Hall, DRM Office, Vijayawada. Generally, Railway week celebrations are held annually during the month of April but due to Covid-19 pandemic situation, now the same has been celebrated today to commemorate the first train run o¬n 16th April, 1853 on Indian soil. 

The General Manager addressed Railway Officers and Staff at the 65th Railway Week Celebrations held virtually and stated that the staff and officers of South Central Railway have once again rose to the occasion and rendered extraordinary services beyond the call of duty to achieve the best performance during the financial year 2019-2020. Shri Gajanan Mallya also said that the Zone has registered gross earnings of Rs.13,771 Crore for the financial year 2019-20. While 109.5 Million Tonnes of freight loaded from the zone generated Rs. Rs.9,029 Crores of revenue,  carried 363 million passengers contributing in Rs. 4,119 Crores of revenue from passenger earnings. New Railway lines to the length of 60 Kms have been completed and commissioned in the last financial year.

Shri P. Srinivas, DRM, Vijayawada congratulated all the branch officers for achieving Six GM Shields in various categories and performing exceptionally well in spite of  prevailing Covid-19 restrictions. DRM advised all the field staff to continue to work in coordinated & constructive manner to ensure safety of passengers and also to achieve best possible results

Vijayawada Division bagged Six Efficiency Shields for its best performance during the year 2019-2020. 33 employees from different Departments of the Division bagged individual awards for their meritorious and dedicated services along with one group award at Zonal level. 

The six Efficiency Shields bagged by the Division under various categories are as follows:

General Manager shield for Cleanliness (Stations) - Vijayawada Division

Mechanical - Vijayawada Division

Finance (Accounts) - Vijayawada Division

Civil Engineering - Vijayawada & Guntakal divisions jointly

Best Maintained Running Room - Vijayawada Division

Hindi (Rajbhasha) - Vijayawada Division
