37th RPF Raising Day Celebrated on Vijayawada Division
RPF Staff conducted Tree plantation, Blood Donation Camp and Passenger awareness programmes across Vijayawada Division
Railway Protection Force (RPF), Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway celebrated its 37th Raising across the Division today i.e., 20th September 2021. The Raising Day is celebrated to commemorate the conferring of Armed Force status on Railway Protection Force on par with the other Paramilitary forces of the Union of India.
At Vijayawada, as a part of the Raising Day celebrations, Staff conducted plantation drive, Suraksha Sammelan at RPF Barracks, One Town, Vijayawada. Passenger Awareness campaign was conducted on all platforms of Vijayawada Station. A Swachhata Abhiyaan was also carried out by the officials and impetus was given to promote a greener and cleaner environment. The RPF staff were counseled to maintain cleanliness in and around their premises. It was also advised to monitor and educate the public at Railway stations regarding the importance of cleanliness and environment protection.
At Rajahmundry Blood Donation Camp was organized by RPF and 35 Staff voluntarily donated blood. Similarly various clean & green activities were organized by the RPF Staff across the length of the Division.
Shri G. Madhusudana Rao, Assistant Security Commissioner, RPF, Vijayawada conducted staff grievance redressal meeting as a part of RPF Raising Day Celebrations and advised the staff to be courteous towards the Rail users, and to be proactive in providing assistance to weaker sections of the society. He also emphasized upon the magnificent past of the Force and also stated that the future of RPF is equally glorious.
Raising Day also turns out to be an excellent platform to project the achievements by the Divisional RPF. The following are the achievements of RPF of Vijayawada Division during the current year 2021-22
Highlights
- Rescued 128 runaway children and handed over them to Child Help Line and Parents.
- Assisted Commercial department in detection of 8,735 ticketless travelers and an amount of Rs.39.18 lakhs was realized as fine in the year 2021, so far.
- The RPF is also actively pursuing its drive against alarm chain pulling and causing punctuality loss to the railways without reasonable cause and prosecuted 269 persons in the year-2021 so far.
- In 2021, 55 offenders and one Railway Employee so far arrested under the provisions of Railway property (Unlawful Possession) Act for having committed theft of Railway Property with recovery of property worth Rs.2.64 lakh.
- 57 Cases of Theft of Passenger belonging were detected by RPF and recovery of stolen property of value Rs.17.47 Lakh with an arrest of 33 offenders.
- 17 Ganja smugglers were apprehended while they were transporting 205 kgs Ganja, worth Rs.4.47 lakhs in 11 instances and handed over to Government Railway Police and Excise Department.
- 66 Touts booking unauthorized railway tickets apprehended with seizure of live tickets valued Rs.1.97 lakh. The offenders were prosecuted under relevant sections of Railways Act.
- As many as 2974 were prosecuted and Rs.11.96 Lakh realized as fine for crimes such as unauthorized vending, travelling in compartment reserved for women or Divyangjan passengers, and also selling of railway ticket by unauthorized agents.
