‘Swachh Railgadi’ observed as part of Swachhta Pakhwada
‘Indian Green Building Movement’ webinar presented by Top Official from IGBC
South Central Railway – Vijayawada Division today observed Swachh Railgadi (Clean Trains) as part of its ongoing Swachhata Pakhwara 2021, the fortnight (16-30 September, 2021) cleanliness drive campaign. An awareness campaign is carried out on all the Railway Stations across the Division on this occasion in which inspection of identified trains at Stations by officers/supervisors for cleanliness, ensuring display of Do's and don’ts social messages posters regarding anti-littering in coaches, etc. Suggestions and feedback from passengers were also obtained.
The Divisional Headquarters also conducted a Webinar on ‘Indian Green Building Movement’ under the supervision of Shri Ram Chandra Sahoo, Senior Divisional Environmental & House Keeping Manager, Vijayawada Division on 21st September, 2021. Shri Saurav Choudhury, Associate Counsellor Indian Green Building Council, CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) participated in the webinar as Guests of Honour. The webinar helped the staff to understand the importance of Green Building Concepts, various measures to improve Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Railway Buildings. Shri Ram Chandra Sahoo, Sr.DEnHM welcomed the distinguished guests, Branch Officers and Staff for joining the webinar virtually.
Shri Saurav Choudhury, Associate Counselor, Indian Green Building Council, CII gave a Power Point Presentation on the subject ‘Green Rating Systems, Green Railway Stations & types of IGBC Certifications’. Shri Saurav Choudhury said that 60+ Railways Buildings are going green with IGBC, these include office complexes, schools, residential colonies, hospitals, etc. He explained the intangible benefits like reduction of environmental impact, increased productivity and improved indoor air quality due to Green Rating Buildings. He explained the various steps and parameters to achieve Green Buildings certifications which can be easily targeted using Green Pro Rated products certified by IGBC. He discussed various concepts like energy efficiency, water and energy audit, use of renewable energy, provision of green cover, etc. He also explained the importance of Water Harvesting and Phytoremediation. He also shared the amount of savings, energy efficiency and self-sustainability that can be achieved through Green Building Projects and underscored the role played by Green Building Projects in today’s India.
Shri Ram Chandra Sahoo, Sr. DEnHM, thanked the dignitaries for providing insight into the subject. He appreciated the staff for conducting the Swachhata Campaign with great dedication across the Division. He also said that Vijayawada is the Major Clean Train Station of the zone and on an average 55 trains are dealt for cleaning during the train halt at Station. He also said that Mechanized Cleaning equipment is available at 25 stations of the Division. The staff was given an opportunity to interact with the speaker.
Officails and Staff across the Division conducted Clean Train campaign by inspecting the pantry car, obtaining passenger feedback, working of Bio toilets on Seshadri, Konark, Simhadri, Bokaro-Alleppey Special Expresses at their respective nominated stations of the Division.
Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada lauded the efforts of EnHM, Operating, Engineering, Mechanical and Commercial Staff for conducting the Swachhta campaign with great zeal, dedication and advised the Staff to keep going forward with the same momentum.
