SCRWWO conducts awareness campaign on Menstrual Health & Hygiene at Vijayawada Railway Station
South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization, Vijayawada conducted awareness campaign on Green periods for the outsourcing and Contract women staff at Bapu Waiting Hall on Platform No.1 at Vijayawada Railway Station. Smt. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada graced the occasion as Chief guest.
At the outset, Dr. Sarada, ACMS & Vice President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada counseled the women staff on the importance of maintaining menstrual health. Dr. Sarada, SCMS discussed various healthy, eco friendly and convenient methods to be practiced during the periods and various tips on general health. She also discussed about the usage of menstrual cups, reusable sustainable napkins, bio degradable sanitary napkins and various other eco friendly measures to promote and spread the awareness on Green Periods.
Smt. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada praised the efforts of outsourced and contract women staff for keeping the Vijayawada Station and premises clean and perfect. She said that lack of education, persisting taboos and stigma and limited access to menstrual hygiene products and poor sanitation infrastructure are undermining the over all social status of women and girls in India. She advised the gathering to concentrate on their health issues as well as the menstrual hygiene by giving it a top priority. She also said women play a major role in a family and women should concentrate primarily on their health to ensure the safety of family. She distributed sanitary pads, masks, soaps to all the outsourcing employees. Smt. D. Sridevi, Vice president, SCRWWO, Vijayawada, Smt. Parvathi, General Secretary, SCRWWO, Smt. Usha, Secretary, Schools and Smt. Suhasini, Secretary, Sishu Vihar participated in the green period awareness campaign
