Newly Constructed Foot-Over-Bridge at Pithapuram Railway Station, Open for Public
The Newly Constructed Foot-Over-Bridge (FOB) with 3-Meter-wide Gangway and 3-Meter-wide stairway at Pithapuram Railway Station is made open to public today i.e., 07th March, 2022. With this the long pending demand of the public for a new FOB at Pithapuram, has come to fruition. This FOB connects Platform no. 1 & 2 from North Main entrance of the Railway station. Passengers alighting now at Pithapuram can use this FOB for easily reaching the platforms from outside.
The new FOB is constructed with a cost Rs.1.5 Crore on replacement account. The newly commissioned FOB contains Galvanium sheet roofing, chequered tile flooring and a wider gangway than the old existing FOB. The existing old Rail type FOB in use will be dismantled shortly for operational and safety reasons. With this, Vijayawada Division has completed the annual target of commissioning 5 FOBs in the current financial year. The other four FOBs commissioned during 2021-22 are at Vijayawada, Tanuku, Anaparthi and Nuzvid Railway Stations.
Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager congratulated Shri E Santharam, Sr. DEN, Co-ordination, Shri U. Akki Reddy, Sr DEN, North; Shri. P.V Ramana Rao, DEN, Bridges and Engineering team for commissioning the FOB, completing the annual target and declaring it open for public. Rail users are kindly requested to use the newly commissioned FOB for reaching platforms and refrain from rail trespassing.
