Commercial Department, SCR conducts seminar on enhancing the share of “UTS” Mobile App, and promote Digital transactions in Ticketing
“UTS” App - an easy way to get unreserved railway tickets without waiting in Queue line
Commercial Department of South Central Railway conducted Seminar on ‘Passenger Business’ with focus on proliferating the adoption of “UTS” mobile app and digital transactions in ticketing at Divisional Railway Auditorium, Vijayawada on 6th July, 2022 . This seminar was inaugurated by Shri G. John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway in the presence of Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division and Shri R. Mohan Raja, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur Division.
Shri G. John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, while addressing the participants stressed on the need to deliver ticketing services in a smooth manner and provide satisfactory services to the passengers. He exhorted the participants to spread awareness about the “UTS'' mobile app, through which passengers can get their tickets conveniently from their mobile phones without any need to visit railway booking counters. PCCM said that SCR Zone stood first in Indian Railways in passenger share using UTS App among all the zones during June 2022 and appealed to the Branch Officers and staff to increase the share of UTS App in ticketing to 25 %.
Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, in his address underscored the importance of increasing the share of digital modes of ticketing and payments in smoothly handling the passenger rush at Stations in unreserved segments. DRM said that India is first in Digital payments in the world and it is time to tap that potential for maximum adoption of UTS App and increase the share of digital transactions.
Shri Mohan Raja, Divisional Railway Manager/Guntur Division in his address emphasized the need to leverage technology and proliferate easy methods of ticketing such as “UTS” app and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines at Stations by taking up Public awareness campaigns.
A detailed presentation was made by Shri K. Sambasiva Rao, Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Marketing) on enhancing the adoption of “UTS” mobile app among the passengers and steps to be taken to increase the utilization of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) available at major Stations. The need for increasing the share of digital payments through PoS machines using debit/credit cards and UPI in ticketing has been stressed by the authorities.
A large number of railway commercial department staff in the cadre of booking supervisors, commercial inspectors, ticket inspectors and reservation supervisors from Vijayawada and Guntur Divisions participated in this Seminar and shared their views/suggestions on further improving the Passenger Business with focus on enhancing the adoption of digital modes of ticketing.
