Mock Drill in association with Civil Defense Organization, SCR held at Electric Loco Shed, Vijayawada










South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division jointly conducted Mock Drill in association with Civil Defence Organization (CDO), SCR under the supervision of Shri Ch. Dinesh Kumar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineer, Electric Loco Shed, Vijayawada at Electric Loco Shed(ELS) Depot, Vijayawada on 8th July, 2022. Shri K.L.N Swamy. Dy. Controller of Civil Defence & ADGM, Civil Defense Organization (CDO) SCR Personnel and Electric loco shed staff jointly performed the Mock Drill exercise today.

The Basic objective of conducting this Mock Drill is to train the staff working in ELS to play vital role in extrication methods by rending First Aid at the spot and moving them to nearest hospital for treatment by saving previous life& minimizing causalities during any untoward incidents. As part of Basic Civil Defense training, CDO team is  imparting training to 47 staff of Electric Loco Shed from 04.07.2022 to 09.07.2022.  

 Mock Drill Exercise started at 15.15 hrs am with the ringing of alarm at the Electric loco Shed and underwent till 16.30 hrs in the afternoon with a total of 100 Electric loco shed and CDO  staff taking part in rescue and restoration operations. This exercise is aimed at to deal with immediate emergency conditions, protect the public and restore vital services and facilities that have been destroyed or damaged by disaster.

Details of the Mock Drill Exercise:-

Ø  Initially, CDO team demonstrated various techniques for carrying injured people like cradle lift, Single man human crutch, pick a back and cloth lift from the accident site.

Ø  Various fire fighting techniques were demonstrated using fire extinguishers, wet cloth, sodium bicarbonate etc. in the advent of a fire breakout during any fire accidents.

Ø  Various domestic techniques to put off fire from gas cylinders especially during fire accidents in kitchens were demonstrated by the  Loco Shed Staff.

Ø  Basic Life Support and care for unconscious passengers were also demonstrated by the CDO team.

Ø  For people stranded on the top of Building and unconscious condition, Chain Knot method  was performed.

Ø  The injured passengers are rushed to the caravan arranged first Aid services are rendered and are rushed to MRV or ambulance depending on the gravity of injury.

Shri Ch. Dinesh Kumar Reddy, Sr. DEE, ELS, Vijayawada thanked the efforts of  Civil Defence Organization, SCR for imparting valuable lessons to staff in Ground Rescue methods

FireFighting techniques,  First Aid, Basic life support and Rescue extrication methods etc.  Shri Ch. Dinesh Kumar Reddy, Sr. DEE, ELS interacted with media and briefed them regarding the importance of Civil Defence basic training in daily life and in saving lives without wasting precious time. He appreciated the ELS staff especially ladies for undergoing training and demonstrating the techniques with utmost dedication and efforts during the mock drill

 

Speaking on the occasion, Shri K.L.N Swamy, Dy. Controller of Civil Defence & ADGM said that South Central Railway Civil Defence Organisation is delivering selfless service towards the welfare of Railway Families and the society. He said that Civil  Defence Staff are the first responder in any kind of disasters and always spring to action in the event of any disaster. He said that by imparting training programmes,   Civil Defence  shall use the huge resource pool of open line and other unit staff including loco shed staff during any emergencies or untoward incidents.
