PwD Staff felicitated on the occasion of the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’

A Seminar was conducted to create awareness on
‘Benchmark Reservation for Promotion to Employees with Special Disabilities’

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division felicitated meritorious Persons with Disabilities (PwD) on the occasion of the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’ in the presence of Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, ADRM, Infrastructure and Shri M. Srikanth, ADRM, Operations, Vijayawada Division today i.e., 3^rd December, 2022 at Divisional Railway Auditorium, Vijayawada.

A seminar on ‘Benchmark Reservation for Promotion to Employees with Special Disabilities’ was conducted by the Personnel Branch on the occasion. Shri M B Muralidhar, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Vijayawada Division explained in detail the various reservations and opportunities available for the PwD staff in Railways.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager emphasized on the fact that we must not consider disability as a curse and the Government is making continuous efforts not only to provide various reservations but is also ensuring these are being implemented on ground level. Shri Srinivasa Rao, ADRM, Infrastructure explained in detail about the various facilities provided on Indian Railways to the disabled such as ramps, anti-skid tiles, earmarked parking, special ticket counters, water troughs, toilets, lifts, escalators, etc. He assured that Indian Railways is ensuring the ease of travel for Divyangjan passengers.

13 meritorious staff from various departments were felicitated by Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM on the occasion. Around 250 PwD Staff from across the Division participated in the seminar along with Senior Railway Officials and staff. Shri K Srinivas Rao, Shri Manikya Rao, APOs, also participated in the event. Shri Shaikh Shahbaaz Hanoor, DPO proposed vote of thanks.
