 There is no Plan-B for Safety

- General Manager holds Seminar on ‘Safety of Train Operations’ with Divisional Staff at ETTC, Vijayawada

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway held a Seminar on Safety of Train Operations with Divisional Officers & Staff on 15th June, 2023 at Electric Traction & Training Centre, Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada. Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, Shri M.Srikanth , ADRM, Operations and Branch Officers took part in the Safety Seminar. Around 200 Staff from various Departments of the Division attended the Seminar on Safety.

At the outset, Shri Shri M.Srikanth , ADRM, Operations welcomed Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR and Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM on to the dais and gave a detailed Power point presentation on Department Wise Safety Measures undertaken by the Division to prevent accidents & untoward incidents.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR laid emphasis on strict adherence of safety precautions by all the Departments to fulfill the expectations of esteemed passengers. GM said that there is no Plan- B for safety and appealed to the staff to avoid short cuts in maintenance activity by strictly adhering to the prescribed procedures and rules laid down by the Administration. GM stressed on implementation of Rolling Block Programme in true letter & spirit across the Zone, to pre-plan the maintenance and safety related activity in the sections well in advance by involving all the stake holders and accommodating their requests. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR advised the Officers & Staff to  treat these Rolling blocks preciously as these are granted at the cost of mobility by keeping all the required machinery, equipment and tools necessary  ready & in sound condition. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR and  and Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM interacted with all  Loco Pilots, CLI’s, TRD & Electrical Staff and took stock of their practical problems on field while performing duty.

 Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM thanked Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR for holding the seminar and for valuable suggestions to field staff and officers during interaction. Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM said that safety will forever be the top priority of this organisation and staff must strive and come forward to overcome the short falls in the system through proper co-ordination & planning. 

Later in the afternoon, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR held a detailed meeting with Section controllers at Divisional Railway Manager's office, Vijayawada. GM exhorted the Controllers to give top priority to scheduled maintenance & safety works across the Sections of the Divisions which inturn would yield good results especially on safety front. Shri Arun Kumar Jain also held a detailed review on Safety Performance with Branch officers at Divisional Conference Hall. GM also instructed the Branch Officers to  conduct frequent Seminars at Divisional level to sensitize the staff to be more vigilant and alert so as to take timely action wherever required. Further, the General Manager directed the officials to intensify track patrolling and ensure supervision of track maintenance works.
