Vijayawada Division observes International Level Crossing Awareness Day

 



On the occasion of International Level Crossing Awareness Day, South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division conducted Safety Seminar for Open line Staff on 15th June, 2023 at Divisional Railway Auditorium, Vijayawada. Shri J. Srinath, IRTS, Sr. Divisional Safety Officer, Vijayawada Division graced the occasion as Chief  Guest. Around 200 Gate Men, Trackmen across the Division took part in the event.

South Central Railway, Vijayawada division is observing International Level crossing Awareness Week from 07th  to 15th June, 2023. Gatemen and Pointsmen from all the sections participated in the seminar.

Addressing the gathering, Shri J. Srinath,  Sr.DSO said that there is no holiday for safety and advised the gatemen to not get pressurized by the demands of daily commuters at level crossings. He said that safety is the top most priority and should not be compromised in any aspect, as we are dealing with millions of passengers every day. He advised the Gatemen and Pointsmen  to be alert and vigilant on duty and should strive for safety of the passengers. He also said that Gatemen, Pointsmen play a vital role in image building of railways by preventing major accidents every day through their watchfulness and alertness. Sr. DSO advised the all the LC gate staff to check the availability of all the essential safety equipment before signing in to the duty. 

 Shri J. Srinath,  Sr.DSO instructed the staff  to inform all concerned immediately during any unusual obstruction at LC and should safeguard the perimeter by using detonators, red flags to avert any untoward incident. He also said that in there is no single Unmanned Level Crossing gates in Vijayawada division and most of the manned LC gates are in interlocked condition.  He also said that efforts are in place to convert non-inter locked gates to Interlocked Level crossing gates at busy and traffic congested. He also thanked the Engineering   Department for eliminating manned level crossings by constructing RUBs wherever feasible. Safety inspectors and staff participated in the seminar.
