Intensive Ticket Checking Drive over Vijayawada–Rajahmundry Section fetches Rs.13.27 Lakh

Railway, Vijayawada Division, organized an Intensive Ticket Checking Drive
between Vijayawada and Rajahmundry Section from 10:00 hrs. to 23:00 hrs.
yesterday, i.e., 13th December, 2023. The Mega Ticket Checking Drive was held
under the supervision of Shri J. Sukesh Deepak, Deputy Chief Commercial Manager
(Passenger Marketing), South Central Railway, and Shri Rambabu Vavilapalli,
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division. A team of 100 Ticket
Checking was deployed at stations and on identified trains to tackle the menace
of irregular and ticket-less travel.
During the Intensive Ticket Checking Drive, a total of 1973 cases were registered, of which 978 were ticketless travel, 978 were irregular travel, and 17 were unbooked luggage; a penalty of Rs. 8.28 lakh, Rs. 4.91 lakh, and Rs. 8400, respectively, was realized by the Ticket Checking Staff, amounting to a total penalty of Rs. 13.27 lakhs in a single day for the section. In all, 63 trains were checked between Vijayawada and Rajahmundry Section of the Division.
As part of this drive, the passengers were also educated about the usage of fire extinguishers and various safety measures to be adopted during rail travel to help railways serve them better.
Shri J. Sukesh Deepak, Deputy Chief Commercial Manager/PM, stated that the objective of the ticket checking drive is to curb ticketless, irregular travel, and unbooked luggage and to create a moral fear among habitual offenders. The drive was not only to plug the leakage of revenue for railways but also to ensure a comfortable and safe journey for bonafide rail passengers.
