Three Employees of Vijayawada Division receive GM’s ‘Man of the Month’ Safety Awards for December-2023

 Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway presented the General Manager’s ‘Man of the Month’ Safety Awards to three employees of Vijayawada Division for showing alertness in duty and taking timely action to prevent unsafe conditions today i.e., 23rd January, 2024 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri Narendra A Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division attended the virtual safety meeting along with Principal Heads of Departments from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the other five Divisions viz., Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Nanded Divisions from their respective offices.

The General Manager reviewed the safety preparedness of the Zone. He instructed the officials to conduct regular safety drives, and night inspections in the sections to notice the deficiencies in the system and to ensure alertness and avoid u





ntoward incidents. Shri Narendra A Patil, DRM congratulated the staff for their alertness and prompt action on duty.

Three Employees of Vijayawada Division bagged the ‘Man of the Month’ Safety Awards for December, 2023:

1. Shri J. Sridhar, Loco Pilot Mail/Express, Vijayawada of Operating Department while working in Train No. 12510 (Guwahati-SMV Bengaluru Express) at 05:45 am on 7th December 2023 experienced lurch at UP-line just above the new underpass subway and at mid-location of Nellore station. He immediately informed the same to Train Manager and Deputy Station Superintendent of Nellore station. Permanent Way Inspector (PWI) staff of Nellore section attended the track and given fit. He is presented with this award for his alertness and prevention of unsafe conditions for train movement and for avoiding unnecessary delays in train services.

2. Shri Ch. Sivaji, Assistant Pointsman, Nuzvid of Operating Department while performing his duties noticed Hot Axle symptoms in a wagon from a Goods train passing Vatlur Station at 05:11 am on 15th December 2023. He immediately informed the gate man of Level Crossing gate through Station Manager of Vatlur station. The train was stopped at Vatlur station and fire was put off by using the fire extinguisher available in the Loco. Later the wagon was detached at Nuzvid station for wheel replacement. He is presented with this award because he prevented an untoward incident.

3. Shri Ch. Vijay Kumar, Pointsman, Bayyavaram of Operating Department received the award for noticing Hot Axle symptoms in a wagon from a Goods train passing Thadi Station at 10:16 am on 21st December 2023 and informing the same to the authorities. The wagon was detached at Anakapalle station. Thus, the alertness and keen observation of the Pointsman and prompt reporting of the abnormality averted a possible disaster and disruption in train services.
