Record ₹35.46 Lakh realised during Intense Ticket Checking Drive over Vijayawada Division; Public Complaints Drop Noticeably Post-Drive
Highest Ticket Checking Earnings for the Current Financial Year
The South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division, conducted a mega ticket checking drive across its jurisdiction on 6th October, 2025. The special check was organised under the supervision of Shri B. Prasantha Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR, with around 747 Ticket Checking Staff actively participating in the operation.
During this intensive drive, a record Rs. 35.46 lakh was realised in a single day by registering 5,512 cases of irregular travel, marking the highest single-day earning for the current financial year, breaking the previous record of Rs. 35.16 lakh on 28th September 2025. The large-scale checks covered 189 trains across the Division, with dedicated teams deployed in all sections. A total of 747 Ticket Checking Staff, including Squad TTEs, Station Staff, and Pro-Commercial Clerks/Ticket Collectors, worked in close coordination to ensure the success of the operation.
During this Intense Ticket Checking Drive, 2,154 cases of ticketless travel, 3,277 cases of irregular travel, and 81 cases of unbooked luggage were registered. Penalties of Rs. 18.76 lakh, Rs. 16.56 lakh, and Rs. 0.14 lakh respectively, were realised by the Ticket Checking Staff.
The Division conducted the Ticket Checking Drive in response to the surge in passenger complaints related to overcrowding during the festive and holiday season. On an average, around 23 complaints per day have been received under this category during the current financial year. However, during the period from 4th to 6th October, the number of complaints spiked to an average of 60 per day. Notably, a significant drop to 22 complaints per day was recorded immediately after the intensive drive, reflecting its positive impact on crowd management and passenger satisfaction.
