Vijayawada Division, SCR’s Successful Joint Operation by RPF and GRP – Arrest of Notorious Criminals and Recovery of Stolen Property
In a major breakthrough, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), Ongole, conducted a successful joint operation today, i.e. on 7th October 2025, leading to the arrest of three notorious criminals involved in multiple cases of snatching and theft of passenger belongings onboard trains. This operation marks another significant step toward strengthening railway security and ensuring passenger safety.
In the Gold Snatching Case, the accused S.K.
Madhar and Anandh, both residents of Nidubrolu, were apprehended in connection
with Crime No.109/2025, U/S 304(2), BNS, registered on 1st October
2025. The incident occurred onboard Train No. 18121 Tirumala Express (S1 Coach)
near Ongole Railway Station. During the operation, officials successfully
recovered 41 grams of gold, valued at approximately ₹4 lakhs, from the
offenders.
In another case of mobile theft, the accused Gorla
Raghava Reddy, a known mobile offender, was arrested in connection with Crime
No. 111/2025, U/S 303(2), BNS, dated 6th October 2025. The theft
occurred onboard Train No. 17479 Puri–Tirupati Express near Ongole. The stolen
property included a Samsung Galaxy M31 worth ₹12,000, and during the search,
additional stolen mobile phones – Realme 6, Vivo Y16, and POCO C61 – collectively
valued at ₹28,000, were also recovered.
All three accused are habitual offenders with a
history of 19 previous cases involving similar crimes such as laptop and mobile
thefts and gold snatching across various areas. Their consistent criminal
activities and well-established modus operandi had made them a persistent
threat to train passengers.
The coordinated efforts of RPF and GRP
personnel, who acted swiftly on intelligence and executed the operation with
precision, have resulted in the arrest of these repeat offenders and recovery
of valuable stolen property. This successful operation underscores the dedication
and vigilance of the RPF and GRP teams in safeguarding passengers and
maintaining law and order across railway premises.
The Railway authorities have lauded the teamwork and efficiency displayed by both forces and reiterated their commitment to continue such coordinated drives to curb criminal activities on trains and ensure a safe travel experience for passengers.
