Vijayawada Division achieves highest-ever passenger handling and revenue on 4th October 2025
Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway has created a new milestone in passenger transportation by recording its highest-ever passenger handling and revenue on 4th October 2025. The Division handled an impressive 2.8 lakh outward passengers and generated ₹5 Crore in revenue in a single day.
When combined with inward passengers, the total passenger movement within the Division reached 5.5 lakh, marking an unprecedented achievement in its operational history.
At the heart of this achievement, Vijayawada Station stood out by handling 0.82 lakh outward passengers and generating ₹2 Crore in revenue on the same day. The station recorded a total of 1.7 lakh inward and outward passengers, the highest-ever footfall in a single day at Vijayawada.
To efficiently manage the surge in passenger traffic, the Division took proactive measures, including:
- Opening 25 additional booking and reservation counters at major stations.
- Operationalising 72 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs).
- Deploying 110 ATVM facilitators on a round-the-clock basis to assist passengers and reduce queues.
These concerted efforts ensured smooth and hassle-free travel for passengers even during peak demand. The achievement reflects the Division’s commitment to efficiency, passenger convenience, and service excellence, aligning with the vision of ‘Passenger First’.
Shri Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR, congratulated all officers and staff for their teamwork and dedication. He emphasised that the record-breaking figures highlight the trust and confidence of passengers in Indian Railways and reaffirm Vijayawada Division’s status as one of the busiest and most passenger-friendly divisions in the country.
